Since its creation in 2016, the Rafa Nadal Museum has gradually become one of the epicenters of leisure and tourism in Mallorca. Located within the Rafa Nadal Academy facilities, the museum has welcomed 107,000 visitors over the past 12 months, a record number since its creation almost nine years ago.

Following Rafa’s retirement last November, the museum has added several spaces that have provided a great incentive for visitors to experience his career and his values through an emotional journey through time.

One of the most appreciated spots by visitors is the new area dedicated to Roland Garros. This space, which pays tribute to one of the greatest feats in the history of sport, houses all the Babolat rackets Rafa used to compete in Paris, as well as all the Nike headbands and sneakers he wore during his time as champion in the French capital. Visitors can also see an impressive design featuring images of Rafa lifting all the titles, as well as an infographic compiling many of the Balearic tennis player’s most astonishing statistics on the Parisian clay. Another of the most characteristic elements of this space is the replica of the sculpture that Roland Garros dedicated to Rafa and which was recently presented to the Spaniard by the French Tennis Federation and Amelie Mauresmo, the current tournament director. Fans who visit the Rafa Nadal Museum will be able to see up close in this new space a spectacular life-size sculpture of Rafa Nadal celebrating a title on his knees. This iconic piece, created by Nike in 2014 and weighing 150 kilos, has been on display at Nike Europe headquarters until now, when it has arrived in Manacor for the first time.

Another new and iconic space references Rafa’s journey through the Olympic Games and houses the torch he carried less than a year ago at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games . Visitors will also be able to see the jerseys worn by both Rafa and Carlos Alcaraz in the Olympic doubles tournament.

In 2016, the Rafa Nadal Museum became the first and only exhibition of Rafa Nadal’s trophies, capturing the highlights of his sporting career, from when he began playing tennis as a child to the present day. The exhibition takes visitors through his trophies, but also through the shirts, shoes, and objects worn by Rafa to win each of the Grand Slam finals he has played throughout his career. In addition to learning firsthand about the achievements of one of the greatest tennis players in history, on the exhibition floor, visitors will gain a comprehensive overview of the history of contemporary sport thanks to the memorabilia and objects donated by some of the leading figures in the history of world sport, such as Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt, Roger Federer, Leo Messi, Novak Djokovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Valentino Rossi, Luca Doncic, and legends of Spanish sport such as Pau Gasol, Fernando Alonso, Carolina Marín, Mireia Belmonte, David Villa, Ona Carbonell, and Lydia Valentín.

Additionally, the Rafa Nadal Museum offers various activities with different levels of action that allow you to experience interactive and technological experiences linked to the world of sports, enjoy games for all ages, and challenge your family and friends in fun interactive games. A wide variety of sports (tennis, Formula 1, cycling, basketball, soccer, etc.) are practiced in a different and exciting way, all within a high-tech environment and recreational activities.

Much more than a museum

Throughout its 1,500 m2 you can have fun and compete with your friends, while you learn the values of sport.

Furthermore, during their visit to the Rafa Nadal Museum, visitors help to develop numerous charity projects, as part of the proceeds from their tickets go to the Rafa Nadal Foundation .

Rafa Nadal, who will be honored in Paris on May 25, has inaugurated a new space dedicated to Roland Garros at the Rafa Nadal Museum in Manacor, Mallorca.

This iconic piece, created by Nike in 2014 and weighing 150 kilos, was on display at Nike Europe headquarters until now, when it has arrived in Manacor for the first time.

The space is complemented by four screens with moving audiovisual content dedicated to Rafa’s achievements in his most special Grand Slam. And because every detail counts, 112 tennis balls have also been placed in recognition of the Spaniard’s 112 victories at Roland Garros.

The new Roland Garros area at the Rafa Nadal Museum is now open to the public as of today. Paris will also pay tribute to Rafa at the tournament itself with an exhibition featuring Rafa’s 14 trophies.

Rafa’s relationship with France reached an unforgettable milestone last summer when he was chosen to carry the Olympic torch at the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The torch, his medals, and Olympic memorabilia are also on display in a new area of the museum. Other recent additions include the last racket bag of Rafa’s career, as well as the shirts worn by Carlos Alcaraz and Rafa himself in the Olympic doubles tournament together.

The Rafa Nadal Museum is, above all, a unique experience to enjoy personally or with your family, with numerous digital and interactive activities related to the world of sport. During their visit, visitors can participate in immersive games and activities for all ages. A wide variety of sports (tennis, soccer, Formula 1, basketball, cycling, etc.) are practiced in a different and exciting way in a high-tech environment with recreational activities that has already become one of Mallorca’s main tourist attractions. In addition to learning firsthand about the achievements of one of the greatest tennis players in history, in the Rafa Nadal Museum’s exhibition space, visitors can enjoy memorabilia and objects donated by some of the leading figures in the history of world sport, such as Michael Jordan, Fernando Alonso, Valentino Rossi, Tiger Woods, Pau Gasol, Roger Federer, Mireia Belmonte, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Marc Márquez, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Furthermore, by visiting the Rafa Nadal Museum, visitors will be helping to develop numerous charitable projects, as part of the proceeds from their tickets go to the Rafa Nadal Foundation.

Rafa Nadal will be honored at the Philippe-Chatrier on Sunday, May 25, the opening day of the tournament. It will be a ceremony “full of surprises” that will pay tribute to one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

It all began in 2005, in his tournament debut. In a dominant clay-court season on the ATP Tour, Nadal won 17 consecutive matches, leading him to titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, and Rome. He led the French capital in spectacular form, dropping just one set to reach the semifinals.

On his nineteenth birthday, Rafa faced world No. 1 Roger Federer in a huge semi-final duel, the third of 40 that would follow. Dressed in his iconic green sleeveless shirt and white shorts, Rafa won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a match that would go on to become known around the world.

In the final against Mariano Puerta, Rafa lost the first set (the only one he would lose in the tournament), but eventually defeated the Argentinian in four sets. “My dream was to win a Grand Slam title, but especially Roland Garros , because that’s the tournament all Spaniards want to win,” Rafa said after the match.

That triumph began a run of four consecutive titles in Paris. He lost only three sets in 2006, one in 2007, and none in 2008, defeating Federer in all three finals. That 2008 performance, in which he lost only 41 games in 21 sets, cemented Nadal’s status as King of Clay.

After a fourth-round defeat in 2009 to Robin Soderling , order was restored in 2010 when he defeated the powerful Swede in a final dominated by the Balearic Islands from start to finish. Once again, Nadal did not drop a set on his way to the title.

Rafa would reestablish his dominance in Roland Garros by winning five consecutive titles between 2010 and 2014. Despite tremendous rivalry with the members of the Big4 (Federer, Djokovic and  Andy Murray ), the Spaniard’s success in Paris was undeniable. During this period, his greatest challenge was the semi-final against Djokovic in 2013, a classic encounter that ended 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7(3), 9-7 in favor of the Spaniard after four hours and 37 minutes. A year after Djokovic beat Rafa in the epic Australian Open final (it lasted five hours and 53 minutes in the longest major final in history), Rafa overcame adversity to reach another final.

The eliminations in 2015 (losing to Djokovic in the quarterfinals) and 2016 (he had to retire due to a wrist injury) were remedied with a run of five titles in six years between 2017 and 2022. The Spaniard’s triumph in 2017 broke a three-year Grand Slam drought.

In the latter part of his career, Rafa continued to rewrite the history books in Paris. When Bjorn Borg won six Roland Garros titles, including four consecutive ones between 1978 and 1981, many thought that record was untouchable.

By equaling Sampras’s total number of Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros alone, Rafa surpassed the limits of what anyone thought was possible. Roland Garros is the most important tournament of my tennis career ,” he said before his farewell. “Everything I experienced there, everything I enjoyed there, will remain in my heart forever.”

Now, all sports fans can relive Rafa’s legendary feats in Paris by visiting the Rafa Nadal Museum, which houses the 92 trophies won by the Balearic tennis player.

Two days after his 19th birthday, on June 5, 2005, Rafa Nadal culminated an impeccable clay-court tour in Paris. After winning the trophies in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome, in his first participation at Roland Garros he lifted the first of the fourteen titles that he presents today in the showcases of the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience. The Spaniard beat Lars Burgsmuller, Xavier Malisse, Richard Gasquet, Sebastien Grosjean, David Ferrer and Roger Federer, before beating Argentina’s Mariano Puerta 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-1, 7-5 in the final round.

“Everything happened very fast. I went from No. 50 in the world to fighting to win Roland Garros in two months. I think my head took it all in well, calmly. I think I had received the right education to be prepared in case something like that happened. I accepted everything normally and I think that was one of the keys to be able to continue with the same intensity of work, enthusiasm and motivation”, recognizes the fourteen-time champion of the Musketeers Cup in this video in which he reviews how he lived the conquest of his first Grand Slam.”

But time would show him that he was not right as he acknowledges in this video: “It was a completely wrong thought. Every year you are nervous, every year you want to compete well, you want to have a chance to continue winning and, honestly, the peace of mind that I thought winning that Roland Garros would give me was momentary.” In Paris he was never satisfied with that first crown and today he presents a total of 14 at the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience.

All sports fans will be able to enjoy this work of art during their visit to the museum.

Rafa Nadal received today at the Rafa Nadal Academy a replica of the sculpture that was exhibited at Roland Garros in May 2021.

Gilles Moretton, President of the French Tennis Federation, and Amelie Mauresmo, Director of Roland-Garros, were responsible for presenting the replica, having traveled to Spain to present it to Rafa himself.

This replica (1/10 scale of the original work) has been placed in a very special location within the Rafa Nadal Museum, where all the trophies that Rafa Nadal has won throughout his career are housed.

“Roland-Garros is the most important venue in my sporting career, and that’s why I was so excited to have a statue there. Being able to have this replica here, in my home, in the Museum, and in facilities that are so special to me, my family, and my team, is something special. I’m very grateful to everyone who made it possible, and it’s on display here, alongside my trophies, for anyone who can come and see it,” Rafa himself said during the event.

Amelie Mauresmo and Gilles Moretton also had the opportunity to visit the Rafa Nadal Academy facilities and learn more about how the high-performance center in Rafa’s hometown works with young players. Following the visit to the facilities, and as expected, a luncheon was held at the Roland-Garros Restaurant, a gastronomic space themed around the French Grand Slam located within the academy itself and decorated with images of some of the most important tennis players in the history of the tournament, such as Steffi Graff, Chris Evert, Bjön Borg, and Rafa Nadal himself.

Amelie Mauresmo, Director of Roland-Garros, summed up her visit to Manacor: “The values and spirit of the Academy are a reflection of the man Rafa is. Humility, education, and hard work are values he embodies more than anyone. He always has the desire to pass them on. The players at the Academy are in very good hands, and on a personal level, I am happy to have been able to share these privileged moments of exchange with Rafa.”

For his part, the President of the French Tennis Federation, Gilles Moretton, emphasized the unique synergy that exists between Rafa and the Parisian Grand Slam: “Roland Garros and Rafa Nadal have enjoyed a privileged and special relationship for many years, and today we fully understand his values and those of his academy. We have always had constructive conversations and shared experiences with Rafa to advance the game of tennis; it is an honor to have an ambassador for our sport like him. Today, thanks to the shared will of all, Roland Garros and Rafael Nadal have become indivisible.”

Starting today, all sports fans can enjoy this iconic work of art during their visit to the museum.
